Pit Parade
This game was made in just under 4 days, for Jamsepticeye!
Pit Parade is designed to be a short, but difficult, open-world Metroidvania-style platformer challenge. There are no enemies, and the exit door sits fully accessible, but just out of reach.
The theme of the jam is "Death is an Opportunity," and in this game, death is your only opportunity for self-improvement. Collect upgrades, then throw yourself into the closest pit and change your load-out to overcome new challenges.
If you are new to challenging platformers, some of the challenges in this game may not be immediately obvious. If you're not, these challenges may seem trivial. If you are stuck with no idea how to proceed, please the following walkthrough (challenge spoilers).
Controls
| Move Left/Right | A, D | Arrows | Gamepad D-pad Left/Right |
| A Button (Jump) | L | Space | Gamepad Top/Bottom Buttons |
| B Button (Dash) | K | Shift | Gamepad Right/Left Buttons |
| Start Button (Close Menus) | Enter | Esc | Gamepad Start Button |
Note: You do not start with the ability to dash, the button works fine :)

129 coins , 3 abilities and totally stuck !
nice game though , wish dash was easier to control and either z or x but its doable ...
nit picking here but also wish continue was a key instead of a mouse click as it makes it a pain when playing on a laptop and you die a lot ... !
I have just updated the page with a walkthrough video I was working on if you feel like trying again :) I bet the 2 minute 18 mark is what you're looking for.
I should have included z and x for the arrow keys, my mistake! The Start Button key also close the upgrade menu and tutorial view, either Enter, Esc, or Gamepad Start.
Thanks for giving it a try!
damn , 2:25 on the video - didn't find that !
is there a 4th ability ?
There was supposed to be. Originally I wanted to have it so that by getting all 4 you can ascend up to the door, but I ran out of time to do level design so I had to scrap it and make an alternate path. There is a hidden points area that leads to a second hidden points area, and the second is inaccessible without the 4th ability unfortunately.
